Mission Statement
PathForward’s mission is to transform lives by delivering housing solutions and pathways to stability.
Program Summary
PathForward provides programming in multiple areas.
Housing: With 120 sites throughout Arlington, PathForward’s emergency, short-term, transitional, and long-term housing options ensure there is a program for everyone.
Rapid Rehousing Program – PathForward is ending homelessness for people and households through a housing-first model, providing housing with support to individuals in need of immediate shelter.
Shelter Program – PathForward’s shelter offers sleeping arrangements for people experiencing homelessness every night, including 50 shelter beds, 5 medical respite beds, and 35 additional beds from November to March during hypothermia season. The shelter also provides three daily meals, shower, and laundry facilities, and access to case managers and medical services.
Permanent Supportive Housing Program – People who are chronically homeless and suffer from substance abuse and/or mental illness live in over 100 homes and apartments we manage with onsite services for our most vulnerable clients. This includes 16 chronically homeless individuals and veterans living at Sibert House, a small apartment property owned by PathForward, and at Fisher House, which is owned by APAH.
Outreach and Case Management:
Street Outreach – Our outreach workers seek out people living on the streets, under bridges, in the woods, and other locations unfit for human habitation and distribute clothing, blankets, bottled water, and personal hygiene items. This builds the trust needed to get them off the streets and into housing.
Housing Support – PathForward’s housed clients receive financial literacy training, budgeting assistance, and referrals to the community resources they need to thrive.
Homelessness Prevention – PathForward offers access to community resources, eviction prevention, and utility and security deposit assistance to help individuals and households at risk of homelessness to stabilize their current housing.
Day Program – PathForward provides a safe place during the day for people who are experiencing homelessness. Adults can drop in during the day to shower, eat, and meet with a case manager to access life and job skills training, eviction prevention resources, and housing programs.
Food and Healthcare:
People experiencing homelessness have a long and challenging path ahead to achieve and maintain safe and stable housing. We have barrier-free access to food and healthcare for everyone experiencing homelessness, regardless of where they are on their journey.
Meal Programs – PathForward has been feeding people in need since 1994. We provide daily meals to people who are food insecure through our Day, Shelter, Homeless Bagged Meal, and Street Outreach Programs.
Medical Services – Our nurses are often our clients’ only health resource. We have been providing free medical care, referrals for specialty care, and prescriptions onsite since 2010. In 2015, we added a Medical Respite Program with private rooms for patients in need of recovery after being discharged from area hospitals without a home. Launched in 2021, our Mobile Medical Program delivers medical care to people living on the streets, in the woods, and other places in the community.
