Arlington Community Foundation provides the tools and expertise to personalize and maximize charitable giving, builds connections between community members, resources, and local nonprofits, and drives initiatives and advocacy to create economic opportunities and prevent displacement.
Why we do it.
We believe everyone should be able to call Arlington home. Yet our lowest-income residents and essential workers are being displaced because of a lack of deeply affordable housing and child care, among so many other pressures. That’s why we drive initiatives designed to test strategies to provide resources and opportunities for financial stability, personal power, and a sense of dignity and belonging, while advocating for policy change to scale up these strategies in meaningful and sustainable ways.
We offer a number of professionally-managed and invested giving vehicles such as scholarship funds, donor advised funds, and legacy funds, as well as one-time donation opportunities. Our funds allow donors to be named or anonymous, provide a range of investment growth options, accept a variety of asset types, simplify record-keeping, maximize tax benefits, and as a public charity, our small fund management fee is invested right back into the community.
For professional advisors, we serve as a one-stop shop offering cutting edge solutions to assist clients in achieving their charitable goals in a tax-friendly and efficient way.
For nonprofits, we provide investment management for reserve funds – lowering the nonprofit’s investment costs, reducing staff time spent on investment management, and reducing the paperwork that comes with it.
Assets under management of the Foundation, including cash, stocks, retirement plans, mutual funds, real estate, and other asset types.
Scholarships awarded to Arlington students. Each scholarship has unique eligibility requirements determined by the fundholder such as area of study, graduating high school, and extracurricular activities, among others.
Funds managed by the Foundation, ranging from memorial funds, to donor advised funds promoting cycling, to $2 million nonprofit reserve funds, and much more in between.
Grants awarded to nonprofits in Arlington and beyond, including Prompt Response grants, STEM Fellowships, education grants, and many more.
We love meeting new people. Whether you’re a business executive thinking about corporate giving or a nature lover who wants to protect our parks, we’d love to hear from you.
