How to help with California Fire Response

Author: Community Foundation for a greater Richmond

Our hearts are with all those affected by the wildfires in Southern California and we salute the brave firefighters and first responders for their dedication. Thousands of households have been forced to evacuate, many of whom have lost everything. Communities have lost schools, libraries, and places of worship. Even as the tragedy continues to unfold, we know the impact will continue to ripple for quite some time.  They need our help.

Philanthropy plays a vital role in supporting immediate needs following a disaster such as food and shelter, as well as longer-term needs like health services, trauma-informed care, reestablishment of childcare centers, and much more.

We have compiled a list of giving options that include trusted national emergency response and relief organizations and peer community foundations with the local knowledge and partnerships to effectively monitor and address needs as they evolve over time.
