Are you an Arlington “woman on a mission”?

“I know we can meet whatever lies ahead due to the pride that Arlingtonians show for their community and their willingness to help make it better.”

Ellen M. Bozeman (1925-2009), Arlington activist, leader, and visionary

In 2023, Arlington Community Foundation convened a group of local “women on a mission” to talk about community engagement, leadership, and charitable giving. We listened carefully. We heard that women were interested in opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of community issues and that they enjoyed connecting with other women to share perspectives, learn together, and identify opportunities for action and impact on the issues they care about.

Since then, we have had the honor of hosting a number of important community conversations through what’s now called the Arlington Women Community Builders (AWCB).

From discussing equity and inclusivity at the new Fire Station 8, to highlighting affordable housing challenges and solutions, to showcasing year-end local giving opportunities, AWCB has become a home for women learning, growing, and giving in Arlington.

If you would like to attend future AWCB community conversations or to provide input on future conversation topics, please contact Christy Cole by e-mailing ccole@arlcf.org or by clicking the button below.

Since moving to Arlington 5 years ago, Kiely Wilkerson and her family have continued to “expand our connections, giving, impact, and involvement in ways that I didn’t think were possible before Arlington Community Foundation.” From the Nonprofit Holiday Wish Catalog to co-chairing AWCB, Kiely shows us how you can “make an impact at any level,” even in a way she previously thought was just for the “mega rich.”

I have to be involved.”
