Arlington Community Foundation’s long-standing Prompt Response Fund has helped us respond quickly to help our nonprofit partners when an emergency, disaster, or crisis hits.

To meet the urgent challenges of the COVID-19 outbreak in Arlington, we are focusing our Prompt Response Fund exclusively on support to nonprofit organizations who are on the front lines with clients, patients, and residents impacted by the health crisis. This includes organizations focused on:

  • emergency food needs
  • health needs for the uninsured or underinsured, and
  • support for hourly workers displaced from their wage-earning positions.

We need your support to ensure Arlington’s front-line organizations can effectively help us through this time and in the future.

Arlington Community Foundation will rapidly deploy your donated funds as grants to nonprofits working tirelessly to support our most vulnerable residents — those who are experiencing an urgent, unexpected need associated with the coronavirus. As the weeks pass, we anticipate that the hardship on individuals and families will intensify, and our use of these prompt response funds will evolve as this crisis evolves.

This is a critical time for so many, including the nonprofit organizations who’ve benefited from your giving in the past, as well as those who’ve had to cancel their annual fundraising events or depend heavily on public gatherings. This Fund was created to be a part of the web of resources providing support to essential safety-net services during this outbreak. Please continue to give to organizations you regularly support, and those that need your help at this crucial time. Now is the time to double down for our community as we have greater awareness of the depth and scale of the long-term ramifications of the outbreak.

Will you join us by making a donation to Arlington Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Prompt Response Fund?  Please know a donation of any size will make a difference to the vitality and health of our community!

FOR NONPROFITS SERVING OUR MOST VULNERABLE NEIGHBORS

If you are a nonprofit serving the Arlington populations listed below who are challenged with COVID-19 related-demands, click here to email us. We are currently reviewing and updating our application guidelines to determine the best way to assist and meet the changing needs of our community.

PLEASE NOTE: Nonprofits needing funds specifically for rent assistance for their clients are now asked to refer residents/clients to the multilingual (703) 228-1500 Arlington County. This is a low-barrier point of entry to receive assistance through a variety of emergency assistance programs to help with rent, utilities, medical or clothing expenses.

We will determine a policy for those organizations looking to reapply as this crisis unfolds.

  • The elderly and other high-risk populations
  • Low income residents experiencing short term financial crisis due to loss of work/missed work (laid off, quarantined, unable to work due to lack of child care, etc.)
  • Residents who are food insecure
  • Residents who have no medical insurance or are underinsured
  • Nonprofit healthcare workers in need of protective gear and equipment
