People may contribute to the Foundation to collectively make a difference in all areas of our community through the Foundation's grantmaking - social services; the arts; children, youth and families; education; environment; homelessness prevention; health; senior services; parks and recreation; civic affairs; workforce support; and, youth philanthropy.
Or, individuals, families, organizations and businesses may easily create a named, permanent fund to carry out their specific charitable objectives. The advisor(s) to those funds may recommend grants to nonprofit organizations - local, national or international - on their own timetable. Contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law at the time they are made. Funds set up as scholarship funds award scholarships through our extensive annual scholarship program.
The Foundation acts as a leader, convener and catalyst to improve the community through private philanthropy. The Foundation's Board of 28 business and community leaders manages a $9 million endowment for long-term benefit to the community. Volunteers help to review grant and scholarship applications and with special events.
The Foundation annually awards about $600,000 in grants and scholarships. Since its inception to June 2012, the Foundation has awarded $7.4 million in grants and scholarships.
