Kar F. Gong Memorial Scholarship Established

at the Arlington Community Foundation

Arlington, VA (March 25, 2011) - The Arlington Community Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Kar F. Gong Memorial Scholarship. Jade Gong and her children, Jason and Jennifer Frey, are honoring their father and grandfather by establishing this scholarship fund.

The Kar F. Gong Memorial Scholarship is a tribute to a man who came to the United States from China at the age of 13 and dedicated his life to providing generously for his family and to others in need. Kar Gong became a successful businessman despite limited educational opportunities; however, he firmly believed in higher education as the gateway to a productive future. His family wishes to honor his memory by assisting aspiring college and community college students with demonstrated financial need to pursue their chosen field of study.

"The Arlington Community Foundation thanks Ms. Gong and her children for their assistance in helping Arlington students achieve their goal of a college education. It is through the generous spirit of citizens of the Arlington community that ACF is able to expand our scholarship program to even more deserving students," said Executive Director Wanda L. Pierce.
