Arlington Community Foundation Awards Eleven Grants for Innovative Education Projects benefiting Arlington Students

May 5, 2010 - The Arlington Community Foundation's Board of Trustees has approved 11 grants, totaling $12,083 to non-profits and schools, focusing on education that will reach a broad spectrum of students through creative programs.   The grants will be issued from the Foundations Arlington Education Fund, a component fund of the Foundation that provides grants to educators and nonprofit organizations for innovative projects that supplement and enrich the learning environment for preschool through adult students in Arlington.  Grants are awarded from this fund twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. The Fund is made up of contributions from over 100 individual donors who have an interest in supporting education-related projects and programs that might otherwise not be implemented without this funding.  The Arlington Education Fund Advisory Committee is made up of community volunteers and is chaired by Conchita Mitchell, founder of the fund. See below for a complete list of 2010 Spring Arlington Education Fund grantees.
