Community
Fund for Senior Adults
Arlington
County and the Arlington Community Foundation have partnered to fund
non-profit community based programs serving Arlington’s senior adults.
Funds
totaling $281,000, resulting from the sale of property belonging to
the estate of Alice E. Marsh, stipulated the use of the property or
proceeds from any sale of the property would be limited to benefit the
county’s program for senior citizens.
The
foundation is managing the $231,000 endowed funds on behalf of the county,
investing those funds to create a solid and continued base of support
for this kind of programming, and Arlington’s senior population will
reap the benefits.
Through
the endowed fund, competitively awarded grants will be made annually
as part of the foundation’s general grants-making process. Tax-exempt,
non-profit community organizations that promote and support healthy
and independent living, successful aging, and community-building initiatives
for senior adults will be invited to submit proposals for funding specific
activities or programs.
