Thursday, November 9: Spirit of Community Awards Luncheon

Established in 1993, the Spirit of Community Award recognizes and honors those people who have demonstrated tireless and unselfish commitment to improving the quality of life in Arlington.  This year's keynote speaker was the First Lady of Virginia, Anne Holton.  The Spirit of Community Award was presented to the Woman's Club of Ashton Heights.

Tuesday, October 10:  10th Annual Community Cup Golf Classic

The 10th Annual Community Cup Golf Classic was held on a beautiful afternoon at the Washington Golf and Country Club. Columbia Gardens Cemetery took the honors at this year’s tournament with players William Thomas, Bob McAlexander, Michael Paul and Ross Richmond.

Tuesday, November 15:  Spirit of Community Awards Luncheon

Established in 1993, the Spirit of Community Award recognized and honors those people who have demonstrated tireless and unselfish commitment to improving the quality of life in Arlington. 

The 2005 Spirit of Community Award was presented to Ralph Johnson, youth mentor and benefactor. Over the last decade Ralph Johnson has been actively involved with a Wakefield High School's "Cohort Program,” a mentoring program for minority students. Mr. Johnson endowed the Wakefield Goals Scholarship Fund at the Arlington Community Foundation.  

Charles Mann presented the keynote address. Mr. Mann had a distinguished NFL career spanning 12 years and including an impressive 4 Super Bowls and 4 Pro-Bowl appearances. His transition from the NFL into a successful broadcasting career was complimented with national endorsements. Mr. Mann is co-founder of The Good Samaritan Foundation, a nonprofit organization to help underprivileged youth develop leadership skills in the community and workplace.
