Grant Announcement

Arlington Education Funds

Fall 2002

The Arlington Community Foundation is accepting proposals for funding from the Arlington Education Fund and the Rabil-Armstrong Fund.  Organizations and individuals with proposed projects designed to meet educational needs of Arlington students are encouraged to apply.  The Funds will award grants of up to $1,500 of total project cost.

The goal of the Arlington Education Fund is to mobilize support in the community for creating programs that enhance educational opportunities in Arlington.  The Fund supports projects that prepare and motivate Arlington students to be effective learners and productive citizens.  The Fund provides resources for programs and projects for students from preschool age to adulthood.

The goal of the Rabil-Armstrong Instructional Staff Development Fund is to support professional development for teachers and administrators of Arlington Public Schools.  This could be accomplished through attendance at workshops, university and institute courses, conferences, consultant services, special training or materials.  Grants from this Fund are intended to benefit the instructional program rather than to promote an individual’s personal career goals.

The Arlington Community Foundation receives and manages gifts to support education.  An independent advisory committee of business, community and educational leaders oversees the Funds’ grant-making and resource development.

Applications must be received at the Arlington Community Foundation office by

5:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2002 for projects beginning after January 1, 2003.
